Summary

IT Business School (ITBS) is a private higher education institution located in Nabeul, Tunisia, which is transforming the North African educational landscape with a bold vision for innovation, entrepreneurship, and social impact. ITBS was founded as a next-generation learning environment that melds technology, pedagogical reform, and community outreach into all aspects of its operations. The college has implemented a blend and project-based learning system in all the programs, allowing students to achieve critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration abilities. With the full integration of Coursera, students are awarded globally accepted certifications corresponding to their academic path. At the same time, use of SAGE ERP and Microsoft Cloud certifications allows graduates to armor themselves with industry-specific digital capabilities that offer more employability opportunities all over the world. Besides academics, ITBS also promotes entrepreneurship. It officially gives students "student-entrepreneur" status and support in forming ventures through its incubator and accelerator within. Its Business Angels Club further unites potential entrepreneurs with mentors and investors. Innovation at ITBS is not only classroom-based—it is policy- and governance-based. Social engagement is the second pillar of the ITBS model. Volunteering is indeed integrated into course assessments as a way to get students involved in serving their communities as part of learning. ITBS has been ISO 21001 certified and fully digitalized, including digitization of administrative services and the quality assurance portal. The systems offer increased transparency, responsiveness, and performance monitoring. With its future and integrative vision, IT Business School is a model of how African institutions can align academic excellence with civic responsibility, entrepreneurial spirit, and innovation to produce the future's leaders and agents of change.

IMPACT STORY

Impacting lifes

In 2025, IT Business School (ITBS) embarked on a bold transformation guided by a singular vision: making innovation and entrepreneurship accessible to all students, regardless of background or discipline. What initially started as a pilot project integrating Coursera into selected courses evolved into a school wide movement focused on international certifications, experiential learning, and startup incubation.

Project-based learning became the cornerstone of the academic model, equipping students with realworld problem solving skills. At the same time, ITBS formalized the “student-entrepreneur” status, allowing students to receive academic credit for developing their own ventures. This policy shift encouraged learners to transform classroom projects into actual businesses and innovative solutions with market potential.
To support this entrepreneurial event, ITBS launched its own incubator, accelerator, and Business Angels Club, creating a seamless pipeline from idea to market. These structures provided mentorship, funding access, and real-world exposure helping students go beyond learning and start building.

The impact was rapid and far-reaching. Graduate employability improved, the number of student-led startups increased, and students became more engaged in their academic and social environments. Moreover, community involvement intensified through volunteer-based learning integrated into academic evaluations.

Today, ITBS stands as a national model for youth driven innovation. It has redefined what it means to be a university student not merely a learner, but an innovator, a builder, and a changemaker actively shaping Tunisia’s future.

LEARNINGS

Lessons learned

Over the course of its development, IT Business School (ITBS) has derived important lessons that can guide other institutions in how to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in education. Innovation precedes technology culturally. Although digital facilitators such as Coursera, ERP systems, and cloud infrastructure are vital, sustainable transformation occurs through an institutional culture that embraces change, experimentation, and continuous enhancement.

Empower students and faculty. Authentic innovation flourishes when faculty are trained and encouraged to act as facilitators, and students are considered collaborators in knowledge production. Training, trust, and autonomy are essential elements in the development of a cooperative, forward-looking academic culture.

Innovation and quality are not contradictory. Institutions perceive quality assurance systems as hindrances to innovation. However, ITBS's experience with ISO 21001 has shown that structured processes can promote innovation by creating accountability, transparency, and a shared language for improvement.

Fail forward and iterate quickly. In entrepreneurial education, not every project is going to be an immediate success but that's not the goal. The point is to test quickly, learn from failures, and iterate quickly. The ability to shift directions quickly is what results in profound change.

Engage with the ecosystem. Meaningful sustainability occurs when the university opens its doors to business leaders, NGOs, public agencies, and communities. Constructing those bridges transforms learning into action and solidifies the university's role as a civic and economic engine.
