Centre for Sustainable Innovation - United Kingdom

Summary

The Centre for Sustainable Innovation (CSI) at the University of Salford is a multidisciplinary hub that aims to address the global challenges of sustainability and innovation through education, research, and action.

The CSI was launched in 2023 with a clear statement of its intention to be a lead player in the ecosystem, and to collaborate across the other three faculties within the University and the wider Greater Manchester eco-system.

The CSI harnesses and supports the innovative potential of businesses in Greater Manchester, fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among academic and professional service staff, and other members of the academic community at the University of Salford.

The CSI and the University of Salford have been effective in developing and implementing innovative programmes and initiatives that promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the academic community. These programmes and initiatives cover a range of topics and themes, such as digital skills, renewable energy, digital transformation, and advanced manufacturing. They also involve various activities, such as workshops, seminars, initiatives and mentorship that have allowed local business to benefit from the expertise of academics and findings from cutting-edge research, while offering a platform for those in academia to engage with business and find real-world applications for their work.
