Marie-Josée Lamothe’s leadership has elevated the McGill Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship into a globally recognized hub for innovative companies with a purpose. Since taking the helm in 2019, she has redefined the entrepreneurial curriculum, expanding the Centre’s programming from four to fourteen specialized streams across key industries to ensure that startups receive tailored support to accelerate commercialization and global impact. Recognizing the critical funding challenges faced by early-stage entrepreneurs, MJ spearheaded the Dobson International Investor Tour, connecting startups with 143 investment firms and 228 ecosystem partners across 25 countries. This initiative has played a pivotal role in bridging funding gaps, enabling Dobson-affiliated ventures to collectively raise over CAD $4.1 billion, ten times the amount raised before her tenure, while creating 12,000 jobs worldwide. Notably, she has strengthened the Centre’s international partnerships with institutions like Mass General Brigham (Harvard), Hôtel-Dieu de Paris, and the Hult Prize Foundation, offering startups access to global research networks, mentorship, and funding opportunities. Beyond financial impact, MJ has championed diversity and inclusion in entrepreneurship. She launched the Entrepreneurial Women Lean Startup Program, ensuring women founders receive the mentorship and resources necessary to thrive. Under her leadership, 50% of Dobson startups have been co-founded by women, and McGill has been ranked #1 in Canada for producing successful female entrepreneurs (Pitchbook). Her foresight and commitment to fostering a culture of innovation for positive impact have propelled the Dobson Centre to a Top 5 global ranking by UBI Global and garnered prestigious accolades. Through her strategic vision, she positioned McGill Dobson Centre as a global leader in entrepreneurship.
